Was your engagement proposal as lackluster as mine?

Started by Diane , author of It's All Good Until You Burn Dinner 2/8/2012 9:09:05 PM

Hey all. Since it's the "month of love" and I've already asked about your childhood crushes, how about another question about your current (or maybe even past) crush?

My blog post a few days ago was called Will You Marshmallow? about my husband's lame, lackluster, and (yawn) downright boring proposal to me in the car on the way to the mall.

Did you have either a WOW proposal or a "yawner" you would be willing to share with the crowd? C'mon. Don't be shy!

Mine was long. It took him 45 minutes to ask a question I would have answered in 2. I love what he said though.

Awwww.... cute! 45 minutes was quite a wait, though!

My husband didn't ask me to marry him.  One day he said "Pick a date so we can get married."  That was 15 years ago.

we'd talked about it, and he'd already asked, but since we were in separate time zones at the time and not technically dating, he asked if I'd come visit for a few days so we could talk about whether or not we belonged together (I married a very left brain guy).  He played "Never Let Me Go" by Nancy Wilson, and said "this is what I'd like to dance to at our wedding..." I said yes...and we did.  You should hear about how I got the ring!!! Guess I'll have to blog about it. Happy Valentine's Day.

Peace and good to you

I LOVE my "story".......not too long after I met my (new) hubby, he said "You know I'm going to ask you to marry me, don't you?"  He would re-iterate that thought a few more times throughout the course of our one year courtship.  So, I knew it was coming.  But I still LOVED how he kinda took charge and let me know exactly where he stood.

I can beat yours.  My hubby didn't propose at all.  We were 23 and I said, "you know, we should just get married" because it had just somehow became a given that we would always be together... (LOOOONG story)

ANYWAY, his response was, "I'm not getting married at all until I'm 30"

I said, "Well you know I want kids, and I don't want to wait until I'm 30 to have them"

"WHAAA?? I don't want KIDS until I'm 35!!!"

I said, "Well, okay, I guess you're not marrying me, because I plan to be married and have kids before then..."

We were married 4 days later (since it took 3 days to wait for a license.)

We will celebrate our 18 anniversary this year... oh, and our kids are 11, 13, 15, 16 and 20 (I already had a child from another relationship)

These are great stories! I especially love when one or the other always "just knew" you'd eventually get married!  It's funny how that happens sometimes, isn't it?

 Love that!

Men don't seem to worry about age and kids....

It took my husband 8 years to ask me.  I think when I started looking to buy my own home he finally figured out I wasn't going to wait forever.

He asked at Christmas time. I actually posted about it here.
