Bloggers: Do you do Holiday Gift Guides?

Started by Rebeca , author of The Average Parent 10/21/2011 3:05:08 PM

As a blogger, do you do a holiday gift guide for your readers? If so, how do you find the products to include? Do you stay within a theme? Is it consistent with your blog? What is your vetting process like?

I did one the first year I had my blog, but haven't done one since. Instead, I usually put together a compilation of gift guides from around the web. But, in addition to working with another company to get considered for blogger gift guides (anybody interested in reviewing chocolate?), I'm also considering doing one for myself as well.

I did one last year... and it was a disaster.  I don't think I charged enough.  It's funny, but the companies and PR firms I worked with (well, 2-3 of them) were incredibly picky!  I was giving them near-free publicity and all I got were emails of complaints and "fix-this" and stuff.  Not worth it for me - especially if they weren't paying for my time :)  It was popular though.  Hopefully you'll have better luck.
