Do you allow your kids to play video games?

Started by Morgan , author of Becoming Homegrown 4/27/2011 10:25:20 PM

I have a strict rule of no video games for my kids on the weekdays and I have found that not many other parents in force that rule.  I found that a little surprising.

As a gamer myself I think it is very important to set limitations and know what your kids are involved in...

The kids can't play until they have their school work done.  That usually means that their weekday play is VERY limited and sometimes they have weekend days that they can't play.

That is a good rule. My son plays right now a few minutes here and there with Dad as a privelage/special time. I haven't thought about what that will look like when he starts school.

Many factors to consider. Our son got very addicted to video gaming and flunked out of first year college. Not every kid will get addicted but you don't know ahead of time. Now I speak to parent groups about Internet and Computer Addiction. PowerPoint available on www.slideshare.net under my name.
