Kathie,

Welcome! I know blogging can be overwhelming, but you'll figure out how to pace yourself - probably with a time smiley

And homesteading can be very exciting. So much to learn and do that one couldn't possible get bored. I look forward to chatting with you more in the near future. Be sure to add your questions or anything you'd like to discuss here at the forum.

Blessings,

Amy

I liked  your blog, Kathie! Are you growing rabbits for meat? Reminds me of Dolly Freed. (That's a complement ;-)

Welcome Kathie! I don't get on here as much as I'd like, but I'm glad you've joined us. Amy has put together so much good information on homesteading that you're not likely to have to look anywhere else! :)

Hey Kathie I tried to post a comment but I can't - I don't know how you would change the options but I don't have a google account, livejournal, typepad, aim, etc.  I actually have none of those!  So I won't be able to comment on the blog but I will be following.  Maybe one of these other blogger ladies who does blogger would know how to change it?  Gravatar is a good option if you have it, though the name/email/url is also a good one.

Strange!  I know I've seen blogspot blogs where you could just use name/url to comment.  It's interesting, you seem to be doing a lot of the things I'm going to do this year :)  I'm going to start raising rabbits for meat this year because I feed my cats a raw diet - it costs about $20/month so I think I could cut back by feeding them meat I produce.  Chickens for eggs too.

Interesting that you said it was expensive to raise rabbits - I had always read that rabbits have the best feed-to-meat conversion.  Are you feeding just commercial feed?  I have thought about doing meat chickens but I just hate processing them.  Though it probably isn't any better doing rabbits!  The nice thing about our place here is it's very shady, moist and with lots of natural mulch & greens - tons and tons of forage for a chicken.  I guess if we do rabbits we'll grow some of their feed as well, but time will tell.
