Last Nite's Storm

Started by Annie , author of Country Living In a Cariboo Valley 6/8/2011 11:58:20 AM

Yesterday, I managed to get the last of my Gardens planted. Was it coincidence then that late yesterday afternoon it started to rain.

At first I was glad, hey, I don't have to water the gardens! But then, it started to thunder, then the rain changed to a downpour and then, it started to Hail.

The hail kept up for probably 5 minutes. I am Still afraid to go out to the garden and see if everything is OK!

I hope so :)  Any other gardeners having trouble with too wet of a gardening season this year?

Annie,

I realize you posted this over TWO WEEKs ago... just wondering how your garden is doing now. I lived where it use to hail often and would ruin cars!

It has not been a steller year here in the pacific southwest. Too cool for too long. However the rain we got this year was a real blessing.

Hi Amy, our garden did survive that storm. But, like where you live it seems, it is far too cool here. Rainy too....my Zucchini's are NOT liking this!

The green beans are barely up but my Peppers are zooming along in the Greenhouse.

We're picking a bit of Spinach and of course Asparagus has been ready for awhile - it's been great to be eating fresh out of the garden again.

Are you harvesting lots of veggies by this point?
