Have you ever been told to watch your weight gain during pregnancy?

Since I've got quite a few reactions from my last post "32 week pregnancy update" I thought I'd open this up for discussion here.  Have you ever been told to watch your weight gain during pregnancy?  What were the reasons?  How did you react?
