I'm new to this too but I think that based on what your blog or interests are, do a search for that and find some like-minded communities.  My blog is about saving money for brides and newlyweds so I gather towards decor, recipes, and budget communities.  Once you get the hang of it, create your own community and embed it on your blog to create more traffic.  That's what I'm trying to do today.  Hope this helps!  Good luck!  :) Heather at 500dollarwedding.blogspot.com
