What's for dinner today?

Started by AdrianaPK , author of The Busy Pepper Mill 4/24/2010 11:20:42 AM
We have all had that question posed to us. "Mom, whats for dinner?" or "Honey, are we eating today?" That's my personal favorite by the way. So, tell us. What are you making for dinner?

Haha!  For a change, I don't have to worry about it!  My hubby has gone on a fishing trip and won't be back til Wednesday, and I have no children.  I did however defrost so Brotworst (spelling).  I spent a year in Germany, and I would much rather have them than hot dogs.  I mix a sauce by putting catsup, grated onion and sweet pickle relish together, and put in on my Grilled Bratworst in a hot dog bun.  I love it!

I don't get them often, because my hubby can't chew it, so I don't fix them very often.

:) Great! We love bratwurst here. I will have to try your sauce idea out. I usually caramelize sliced onions then add an entire bottle of beer along with the brats and let it simmer away. Then after they are cooked with that lovely sauce, I sneak them out of it put them on the grill for a bit and let the sauce reduce some. Then just slide them onto a bun, slather them with the onions, a little mustard and down they go. :0)

Thanks for replying and I hope you enjoy your brats.

I think we are having pot roast with veggies - hubby said he's cooking tonight and asked me to put the roast in the fridge to thaw!

Tonight we are having garlic and herb roast beef, with seasoned roasted potatoes and green bean casserole. By request mind you. I will be posting the detailed recipes for the roast beef and potatoes shortly, but the green bean casserole is already up.

Give it a try, I am sure it will become a family staple really quickly. :0)

Oh shoot! I'm glad I just read this because I forgot to pull the steaks out of the freezer. I've never cooked them in the house before, but I got some cast iron pans for my birthday in Nov and finding them very useful! So that's for dinner... NY strips with a balsamic glaze and maybe some broccoli?

I absolutely love my cast iron pans. I have like 6 or 7 of them in different shapes and sizes. Warning though, make sure you have some good ventilation or the fire alarms will go off. They are awesome, but since they heat up to a really good temp, smoking is some of the issues with them.

No worries Nicky. This is meant to be an ongoing conversation so it doesn't really matter what day your posting. Just tell us what you're having for dinner.

Tonight? Looks like take out. I'm tired.

Tonight will be a shrimp casserole recipe from Southern Living.  Pretty easy to assemble and bake and my whole family loves it.  It has shrimp, rice, green peppers, cream of shrimp soup, some green onions and celery.
