To all CD'ing mamas, what do you do for wipes?

Started by Ashley 8/6/2010 1:45:19 AM

As a get more into cloth diapering, I've been thinking about cloth wipes too. I wonder how much of a hassle it is to use a wipe solution or do you just get a wipe wet with water?

Or for those of you who don't use cloth wipes, what disposable ones do you use? The Elements Naturals are expensive, but I really love how natural they are, and they are compostable too (Ecomom.com sells them). What other brands are nice, hold up well, aren't too moist or too dry, and don't fall apart in your hand?

I'd love suggestions! Thanks!

I use old baby washcloths wet with warm water (once again we have the sensitive skin problem).  For disposables, I use Kirkland sensitive (costco brand).

To me, washable wipes make sense when using washable dipes, and vice versa w sposies.

If you don't sew, imo the best wipes are either the thinnest baby washcloths, or cut up pieces of soft old t shirts.  These work actually quite well.

I prefer to make a solution w warm water, lavender oil, and a TINY bit of baby soap.  I have used plain water plenty of times, tho....it works fine!

You can use a wipes warmer w cloth wipes, too, btw.  This is what I like to do....just soak the wipes in the solution, wring out, and put damp into the warmer.

We use cloth wipes almost all the time.  I just wet them in the sink.  That's it.

When we go out for the afternoon, I just take a pile of wipes, wet them, and put them in a jar or container.

My husband is a firm believer in cloth diaper can have the cloth wipe but the disposable (the few we use) should get a disposable wipe method.

We use Nature Babycare wipes.  Amazon has great deals on them through the Subscribe and Save program.  You have to buy them in a box of 10 though.
