How do you feel about visiting a doctor vs natural remedies?

I grew up going to the doctor very frequently. Every time I had a cough or sniffle that is where I went…it was just how we did things. My husband’s family, on the other hand, is much more conservative when it comes to going to the doctor. They tend to take a much more natural approach. I’ve found that I have settled myself somewhere in between. If I feel that I need to I will certainly make a visit to the doctor, but I’m also very open to more natural remedies too.

I was just curious what your thoughts are on this. Does your family make frequent doctor visits, take the more natural route, or fall somewhere in between?

PS~ I know this can be a very passionate subject for some, so please just make sure to respect other’s opinions on this thread! J

I am an acupuncturist in the states.

In Taiwan, I am an OMD,doctor of oriental medicine.

I am licensed in both coountry.

I grew up going to the doctor frequently and that motivate me to the training in Oriental medicine.We don't have "natural medicine" in Taiwan.

So I can only offer my opinion in acupuncture or oriental medicine.

In oriental medicine, we see the body as a whole and getting sick is simply the result of imbalance in the body.

any treatment in oriental medicine or acupuncture is to correct the imbalance.

So there is no antibiotics when treating cold but releasing external herbs or clearing external method.So in contrast to the antibiotics resistant bateria, there is no bacteria to kill in oriental medicine.

It might sound not scientific for some people but in China and in Taiwan, it's part of the main stream medicine.

I still like to offer you free treatment if you are interested.
