Safeway eCoupons Question

Started by Melissa 7/13/2010 4:15:00 PM

Last week an asst. store manager at the Safeway on Ken Caryl/C-470 said they were no longer taking eCoupons (she said Safeway had just changed their coupon policy), but a couple days before that the store manager accepted them, so she went ahead & took it.  Next time I go, I'm going to verify if they are or are not taking ecoupons, but just thought I would ask if you've heard anything similar to this recently.

Melissa~ Do you mean printbale coupons? I'm not sure how they could prevent you from using eCoupons since they come off automaticaly. Either way, I suggest printing out their coupon policy and bringing it to the store with you...the manager is 100% wrong.

The policy very clearly states that Safeway accepts eCoupons and Internet Printable Coupons.

Jennie-

Oops, sorry!  You're right, I meant internet coupons.  I was thinking they were called eCoupons since you can get them online as well, from the same websites.  Thanks for clarifying!  I'll make sure next time they take my internet coupons.

Finally had a chance to talk to the Ken Caryl/C-470 Safeway Mgr. and she said they take internet coupons, but not if it's toward a free product (such as BOGO or like the free Nature Valley granola bars you get this week when you buy 4 GM cereals).  This is probably standard practice I assume, but just wanted to clarify it in case anyone was wondering.  I'm still learning how this all works here! :)

I also have a question about the e-coupons. In some scenarios listed on this site, it looks like your stacking e-coupons with the store's sale. Example:

Yoplait Yogurt 4-6oz .50
-.50/4 Yoplait Coupon
-.40/6 Cellfire eCoupon
-.35/5 Shortcuts eCoupon
=.21 each wyb 6 B

However, recently at Safeway and King Soopers I did not see any deduction for e-coupons on my reciept, even though I know I had some for items purchased. When I spoke to customer service (through the store's 800 number), I was told that the policy had recently changed, and either the sale discount or the e-coupon will be deducted (whichever is the better deal), but not both... anyone know anything about this?

Today I visited my local Super Target (at which I HATE to coupon - they are terrible when it comes to this) and when I asked to speak to a store manager about an unrelated coupon problem, she told me (rather snotty) that Safeway just sent out a notice that they will be no longer accepting internet printables.  I told her that her information is incorrect, but is it?

Sarah -

Are you talking about Super Target or Safeway as far as the internet printables.  If Safeway, see my 7/16 post above about what that Safeway said in terms of internet coupons.

To add to the frustration, I just had the King Soopers on Ken Caryl/Simms tell me they will not take internet printables that involve any free items, so they turned down my "Buy Two, Get 1 Free" Kraft Easy Mac coupon that I worked so hard for.

It seems like the stores are out to get us on the internet printables these days, even though they are coupons directly from the manufacturer themselves!  Anyone else having this problem?

The manager at the Super Target said, "You know, Safeway and Albertsons don't even take these printables anymore".  She was just trying to be difficult.  When I told her that her info was incorrect, she turned really nasty.  I reported her to corporate - no need for other customers to have the same experience!  I've had problems at some King Soopers who say they will only take three same coupons per visit.  Do they have an official coupon policy?

Sarah,

I've heard the "no more than three of the same internet coupon" before.  Now I just try and break my transactions up so I don't use more than three in a single transaction.  It can be frustrating sometimes but for the most part, my King Soopers stores are very coupon-friendly.
