I posted this on my BlogFrog community too, but I really wanted to branch out and make sure I got a lot of feedback.
I am a Navy EOD spouse and a civilian friend of mine recently told me that I am jaded and "dead inside" because of how open and accepting I am about war and the dangers that come with it.
As an EOD family, we have lost a lot of friends and the most recent are coming back with severe injuries. My best friends husband lost both legs in Afghanistan about a year ago.
Humor is a way that we get through these hard times, and our legless friend is the most positive and inspiring person I have ever met.
My kids go up to him after he walks in and takes his prosthetics off to rest and then take a leg and run away chanting "I got your leg!"
This is normal for us. It is hard for other people, I know that. But if we focus on the negative and wallow in the sorrow then how is that living? How is that better? How is that acceptable?
I would love to know your thoughts. Here is a link to the full article on my blog - the jist is all in this post on Household 6 Diva.
