Hi Joann! Guess Ill be the first to respond.
I think we are long haulers. It was a no brainer in the first 6 years, and was getting a little unclear as of recently, but my husband decided to get commissioned so he is taking that route.
What branch are you in? What are the job prospects for each of you? Its tough out there right now, so if you can't get into a good career right away, make sure to start saving now to stave off financial strain. (im a financial counselor and work with military families). If you think you can get hired right away, or have a good job prospect, then it is something to consider. RIght now, I think that job security is something people are begging for so to lose that might be a little risky.
BUT - if you are unhappy with the military life (which seems as though you are not), then I would tell people to consider their options and decide if the struggle of finding a job is worth leaving their post in the military.
Weigh your pros and cons and pick the best one for you (or the one sucks the least..lol). Not every decision feels like a winner and that is ok. You are choosing whatever feels best for you!
