How do you save money on food?

Started by Christine , author of A Rich Man's Family 5/20/2010 5:22:57 PM

Do you coupon, cook in bulk, make things from scratch, buy generic brands only?

What things do you do to save on your food budget?

Thanks for starting up a discussion!  I mostly coupon, but I also make things from scratch when I have time and it is cheaper!  I wonder about everyone else?

Back when I was unemployed for 10.5 mos. I start using coupons!

AMAZING what I learned in that time! Nothing like getting paid to take products out of the store!  I love it!

Now that I am working I haven't had a chance to work deals lately, but  I love stocking up on items! I think I have 2-3 years supply of femine products, toilet paper, kleenex, shampoo/conditioner,soap, paper towels, shaving cream, deoderant, etc.

At first I was embarassed using coupons, but I got over that fast! People were amazed how little I was paying for what I was buying!

...Good times!!

Too bad now that I am working again I seem to do most of my grocery shopping at CostCo..ha! ha!

Oh, I like to cook from scratch but lately have been going out ot eat quote a bit. Cooking at home is definitely cheaper, esp. when you are using products that are in season!

I use coupons, coupons, coupons, and grow a garden. I never buy generic.

Thanks,
