Does your child have seizures?

Started by Christina , author of Pooh's Corner 4/20/2010 2:52:14 PM
After watching Emily have many grand mal seizures, {triggered by fever at the time}, I remember thinking she was dying right in my very arms..........I have never been the same.

What has your experience been with seizures & your child?

Emily has them because of her chromosome deletion & currently takes Lamictal to help control them.

No, I can't imagine watching my child have one.

I had a dog who has seizures and it scared the s*it out of me.

Keeping  Emily in my prayers and you too.

My children never had seizures but my husband now has Atonic Seizures brought about by a head injury. His body looses all muscle tone and he falls to the floor sometimes if he lands wrong he'll stop breathing, so he can't ever be alone. My husband takes Tryleptal to control them, he hasn't had one in about 7 months.

It's scary but all you can do is educate your self and trust in the Lord.

I guess no matter what the age Sonia, seizures are scary stuff.  I totally agree............we have to trust in the Lord.   Glad you husbands seizures are starting to be managed with the medication.

Emily takes Lamictal and hasn't had a "big" seizure in 2 years.

Presley had a febrile seizure for the first time about a month ago - brought on by the sudden onset of a fever.  I knew she wasn't feeling well and I kept checking her for fever but nothing.   She was sitting in my lap and suddenly fell backwards.  I watched her eyes roll to the side of her head and mild convulsions started.  She turned blue while she was in my arms and I thought the same thing - I'm losing her!  It lasted a minute maybe and it was the most awful minute of my life.  I feel that image is burned on my brain and will haunt me forever.  I pray I never witness such a thing ever again.

Christina, I can't imagine having to go through that regularly.  Praying for you and little Em.
