What are you afraid of?

What are your (rational or non-rational!) fears??

This weekend I discovered that I'm afraid of heights!! I never have been before, but I thought I was going to die yesterday when I went on the second floor of a construction site. It didn't have any walls up or anything yet and the only way to get up/down was on a wood ladder propped against the floor.

What about you?

I hate mirrors.

I believe it started when I was little and my dad posed the question to me, "What if you look in a mirror, and you see someone else's reflection?"

I have no mirrors in my room.  Other than the bathrooms, we have one in the house.

I did see the movie "Mirrors."  Made myself watch it, lights on, with my brother.  Never will watch it again, tho.

I never thought I was afraid of heights until we went to a Tool concert and our seats were way up high in the stadium seating. I was absolutely freaking out. Luckily we snuck super close before the show started but, I almost had a panic attack being up that high.

I'm scared of clowns. Really, do I need to explain that one? They are freaky.

I'm scared of something happening to one of my kids. Anything. Getting hurt, getting kidnapped, etc. Scared shitless that something bad will happen to them.

I'm scared of death.

I'm scared of driving on country roads at night.

And now, I'm scared of what Sonja's dad told her about mirrors!

I'm sorry Robin!!

My sister is afraid of heights too. I'm not afraid of much. Right now its just not getting better or my family dying and me having to go on by myself.

I am afraid of heights, but not flying. I can't reall explain it, but I feel secure flying. I don't even like looking out the windows of tall buildings though. Makes no sense at all!

I really don't like snakes, and I'm afraid of drowing - but I love to swim, so again - makes no sense!

Most of my fears I try to face, but the one overwhelming fear I have always had is home invasion. I actually have a hard time sleeping deeply because of it; I am always alert in case someone  tries to hurt me in my sleep. I even sleep with mace right next to my bed. I have no idea where this fear comes from, but it is one I have had for a really long time.

I have always had a fear of heights and sharks, Deathly afraid of them. I live no where near the ocean but I watched Jaws when I was 6 and I think that is what did it.

The dark! If I'm sleeping alone in the house, I can't sleep without a light on.

When I'm coming up the stairs from the basement, I always run...as if someone is chasing me and trying to grab my legs from behind...guess I saw too many scary movies as a child!

I was temporarily afraid of mirrors for awhile, too! When I was WAY too young I saw a scary movie with a scene where a woman looked in the mirror and saw an intruder/attacker in the reflection behind her. For weeks after that I was always afraid to look in the mirror!!

SIF- I'm scared of home invasion too. I used to not be. I don't know how I ever lived alone but, I wasn't scared back then. I've said it before, having kids turned me into a total wuss about everything!

My fear is pretty lame and I get made fun of because of it.  But I'm afraid of squirrels.  Random, I know.  I am so scared they are going to run up my leg and bite me...especially if I'm out rollerblading!!
