Pay off my family's homes (mine, my sister's, my fathers)...and any other debt!
build Joe's sister a new home...
build our church a gym...and a new playground...
give loads of cash to our food.clothes pantry at church...
build stables and hire a barn hand...
buy everything I need to run a farm and a teacher to teach me how to use it...
give to a few other causes...
set up trust funds for the kids...
buy an RV...

Ok, I think I'm broke now.

I would use it to pay off school...YUCK!  :(

Wow, Laura, your tuition must be expensive...SIF, you didn't say what you would do!!!

I hate talking about this cause I would love it but here goes:

I would take a good amount of it and divide it into separate accounts for:

myself and immediate family. I get nowhere without them.
Vacations
Emergency Fund
child savings/future
house care
mortgage payoff
car care and insurance savings
utility bills - all automatic so I never have to worry about that
Miscellaneous
Health and Insurance
Charity
there's more to put here I guess...

The rest of the money would be enough to divide for at least 10 or15 years so that we can live comfortably and I wont have to go back to work. I have no idea what it would be used on since most things would be covered but I think it would be smart of me to have money set aside anyway.

my tuition is ridiculous, but I would still have extra money so being the irresponsible college kid I am, I would spend it on:

A couple houses, a boat, cottage, and tons and tons of vacations!!

;)

I would pay off the rest of our student loans.  Probably help some of my family.  Then buy me and hubs one of those tickets around the world and travel! :o)

Get out of debt.

Give to my high school and college music departments.

Give to the humane society.

Buy a horse. :)

Oh, sorry Sam! I would probably be incredibly boring to tell the truth!

I would pay off all my debt (house/car/student loans), I would maybe buy a bigger/nicer house, but probably not because my place really works for me right now. I would rip out the florring and put nice wood floors down. I would also completely gut and re-do the kitchen.

After that, maybe I would take a trip to San Diego/Arizona to see friends and family, but beyond that - I would put the money away somewhere that I could live off of it for a while and I would quit my job so that I could write for a while.

I wouldn't be one of those to blow it, because that just isn't my personality, but I would totally use it as an opportunity to make my dreams come true and then when I started making a living writing I would probably donate a good chunk of it to local charities...

I would:

-adopt as many kids as we wanted without loosing sleep worrying where the money is going to come from.

-have alot of fun giving 15% to charity and the church and then

-put the rest toward what we owe for our farm (which is pretty close to a big lottery win).

Hmmm... how much money are we talking about here?  How big is this lottery anyway?

My grand scheme if I were to win a big chunk of money would be to put it in a high interest savings account and/or invest it.  I'd quit my job, live off the interest/earnings each year and become a "professional volunteer."

Actually... I'd finish paying off my car first.  Might as well since I'd have the money, right?
