Why is it that

Bras cost SO MUCH MORE then underwear? 
 
SERIOUSLY... I have lost a lot of weight and need some new bras. I only buy them when necessary... so they tend to last a LONG time. 
 
Holy Moly!! Granted Im a bra snob, and only like the ones from VS (not for the name... but the comfort)... and only 2 bras is nearly $80?? 
 
Yet, undies cost on avg... what? $2-$5/each. 
 
Urgh... I even looked at walmart yesterday for a bra just to save... even there they were on avg $12/each! I must have tried on 10 different pairs but none of them fit comfortably for me... so back to VS I go :0(

I guess because they have more "parts." A pair of panties is just some fabric with elastic, maybe a bow or something. Bras have wire, padding, fasteners, adjusters... lots of parts.
 
I agree, though. They are WAY too expensive! And VS are the only ones I like too. Granted, I haven't tried many other brands, but these work better for me than really cheap ones, so why not?
 
I am pregnant and I'll need new bras soon. I'm NOT looking forward to that shopping trip.

I agree, they are way too expensive. But I suppose part of it is because underwear only has like, 4 sizes, whereas bras have WAY more different sizes. And they are more complicated in design like Audra said.
 
But hey, at least you need less of them than you do of underwear.

Siridia: True! My pre teen thinks she needs one for every day of the week! LOL I nicely explained that was a NO!!

I hate wearing bras.  I can't remember the last time I wore em.  Cami's are sooooo much better in my opinion. 

But yeah, VS is the way to go if I need to wear one.  And the prices suck.

*disclaimer* please don't anyone think I am making fun of anyone with Alzheimer's by what I am about to say in answer to this post....

When I read this thread I had to laugh because the past week each night when I go to the rehabilation hospital to get my mother ready for bed and sit with her until she falls asleep...she will ask me for scissors so she can cut her bra off.  Each night I have to tell her I have no scissors and we will just take it off without cutting.  In my head I am thinking it would be easier to just cut it off and make her happy but bras are so expensive I can't be cutting them off of her each night....LOL  Right now my mother has a fasination with scissors so she is always asking for them and we have to keep them away from her or she would be cutting all her clothes up...which she has already cut most of them up before we realized. *sigh*

Some things you just have to laugh about...either that or cry....LOL

Ah, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who refuses to wear anything other than a VS bra. Have you tried shopping their clearance site? Occasionally I'll find a good deal, like two for 40 dollars.

I'm a bra snob too - VS all the way! They are the only ones that feel like that fit me and my big  knockers right! Everything else always leaves me feeling like something is poking in the wrong place or like the twins are having a free-for-all!

I think they are so expensive because of what all goes into them, but I reason that my bras last longer than my undies (probably because I wash my undies after every use and I certainly don't wash my bras as often!) so maybe it all works out in the end!
