Neti Pot

Started by Amanda , author of Belli's Place 2/3/2012 4:46:56 PM

I just used a Neti Pot for the first time ever.

OH. MY. GOD.

Why did no one introduce me to this sooner.  I don't remember the last time I was able to breathe through both nostrils at the same time.  Unbelievable.

BWHAHAHA

I laugh heartily Amanda because I have had people telling me for YEARS to get one with all my sinus problems. I flipping love love LOVE that thing. I get a cold, I bust it out. I have allergies, I bust it out. It is AMAZING how wonderfully the thing works.

Did you get the pot one or the squeeze bottle one? I have the squeeze bottle one because i was actually still afraid of the pot LOL

I got the pot.  My nasal passages are/were blocked so badly that it took me three tries to finally get the water to go through.  My nose is still burning just a tad but I don't give a crap.  I can freakin breathe.

The burning and yucky drip you can get down the throat are small prices to pay for sure when you can actually breathe. I hate mouth breathing because of being plugged up...it has been a life saver.

Just a warning Amanda, put it away far out of sight and reach of the littles... I got accused of hiding a teapot from them.  I made them show me... and laughed and laughed as they cried WE NEEEEEEED that TEAPOT!

LOL!  Fortunately Isabelle doesn't have tea parties so I won't have to worry about that.  She did think it was a genie's lamp though so she might be trying to rub it!

did you use the salt/bicarb packet to put in the pot?  if you don't put enough/all of that packet in, it burns like hell.  but, if you use the packet, it's perfect!

i'm a total pothead...er, neti-pothead, that is!!!!  i didn't use it as much as i normally do/should have last fall, and got a double ear infection because all that gunk piled up in my head and ears.

love that little blue pot!

I tried the pot, but I just can't help but feel like I'm drowning and jerk straight up when the water gets to my nose :-(

I'm glad you feel better!!  Stuffy noses are SOOO annoying!

I generally just use the generic saline nasal spray and a few drops of grapefruit seed extract and DANG.  That seems to kill ANYTHING.  I used to have sinus infections several times a year, now I might get one every two years if I'm exposed to certain types of mold. I was SO thrilled when a friend introduced me to the whole nasal flush thing!!!

From not following the package instructions and using distilled or boiled (then cooled!) water. You can't use it straight from the tap, which is what that person did.

i feel like I read an article where people got parasites in their brain or something from using one...

and therefore, I do not. it is now an irrational fear. :-)
