So, you all are my source for culturally relevant lingo.

What does :$ mean?

I get that it is a face, but is it a smiley face? Is the person happy? Or is it a frowny face and they are pissed with me?

In the context it could be either.

Help me please. I am totally clueless.sad (see this face leaves no room for confusion)

I think its a bit of a wonky face.  Kind of like when you screw up your mouth into a half frown?  Or scrunch up your nose with a "this sucks".  But I am not a "face" expert, so get some more opinions!

I always thought the dollar-sign one was 'embarrassed' - but I could be wrong....

To me it means, I'm gonna zip my lip. ie "I have a big opinion on whatever it is, but I am not going to say because I might offend you"

Janelle's idea makes sense. I have no idea. I use :) and :( and only very occasionally. I don't even know how to make the yellow ones!
