I'm looking for blogging Moms (or grandmas) to help me with this new healthy meal plan blog hop. I started Fit Meals Monday because I needed help coming up with fast, tasty, healthy meals for my family. Other meal swaps seem to have 98% of plans with really poor choices, so I wanted one that was dedicated to Moms who are making a great effort to make healthy meal plans for their family! Do I have cake? Yep, and I eat it too! But, making a meal plan helps me to think about making "better" choices for my family. Plus I always save a ton of $$.
This hop may bring new readers to your site. Join me at the start of this, keep it healthy(ish) and lets help each other with some yummy ideas. http://www.fitmomsfitkidsclub.com/?p=1493 (for the rules)

I will keep posts open for submissions Monday-Wednesday each week. Want to join me?? I need some new healthy recipes! :) Go to http://www.fitmomsfitkidsclub.com on Mondays to add your submissions. Let's help each other!

Hello everyone! I have used blogfrog in the past to start discussions & I LOVE it! I figured this would be a great place for all of us to go for support, encouragement, accountability, tips, recipes, to celebrate successes, & to pick us back up after a slip.

Let's start with the basics. Who are you, what are you looking for out of this group, goals, etc. Anything that you feel comfortable sharing.

I am so excited about this & I hope that we build an amazing group. The times that I have succeeded the most, is when I have a partner & someone to hold me accountable. I want to do that for you & I NEED you to do it for me! :)

This is part of a post from my blog A Stranger in this Land. You can view the entire post here!

	*

I decided to search for and compile a list of ideas to improve a marriage through quality time. I found quite a few good ones and added a few of my own. These are in no particular order!

-Take control of your schedule and make time. We already covered this a bit, but to give you an example... If Mi Amor works 20 hours overtime, he cannot be forced to work anymore overtime for the rest of the week. Therefore, he works late at the beginning of the week, so he can get off on time the later part of the week. Sometimes it doesn't work out due to the nature of his job, but he does what he can.

-Schedule a "Date Night." It is suggested by many marriage counselors that married couples should go out for at least one "date night" a month, especially if you have kids.

-Have lunch together once a week. This is something that Mi Amor and I try to do. Maybe not every week, but we are pretty consistent with making attempts. Also, this doesn't have to expensive or unhealthy. Take your sack lunch to a nearby park instead of heading to a restaurant.

-Take a walk together. Or go running! Mi Amor and I get up at 5:30am most mornings to do just that. Even though I am not a morning person, I really enjoy this time with my husband.

-Get up and go to bed at the same time. Ok, I think many people are going to disagree with me here. I know this is not possible for some people and, perhaps, I will change my tune later on. For now, this is an important one to me. I get up and make Mi Amor a sack lunch every most mornings and we rarely go to bed before the other. I appreciate the ability to have the same schedule.

-Do chores or run errands together. In my mind, this can only be considered "quality time" if there is a lot of communication going on at the same time. That may just be me though...

-Set aside time for daily conversation/discussion. Most often Mi Amor and I discuss our day and other things during dinner. We don't watch TV while eating (unless we're having a Pizza & Movie Night).

-Play together. Play cards, a board game or video games... or even tag or hide-and-seek. Men love it when their wives to have fun with them.

-Get involved with your spouse's hobbies once in awhile. Mi Amor enjoys playing video games, so I make an effort to play Rock Band every once in awhile. And just last week we went on a bike ride when he got his new bike and I re-discovered a new hobby.

-Go to bed early...and don't go to sleep. We all know sex is an important aspect of marriage. It's more than just physical. It connects you emotionally and spiritually as well. Try for more than once a week.

-Try to take a weekend away a few times a year. If you plan and save, this is possible. Honestly, I don't know many people who actually do this, but it's a nice goal to have. Maybe just start with once a year?

-Shower or take a bath together. Sorry if this offends anyone. It was mentioned in more than one article, so I felt that I should include it.

-Flirt with each other. Flirting come easily when dating, but often dies a sad, lonely death in marriages. As awkward as it may seem at first, some things that must remain unsaid during the dating and engagement period are not considered inappropriate between a married couple. I'll leave it at that...

-Send each other emails, texts, or other messages. Sappy messages or a simple "How's your day?" are a great way to stay connected when apart. Mi Amor and I send each other messages at least once throughout the day. I think it helps us stay more positive about our lack of time together. I seriously don't know what I would do if I didn't have texting! :)

-Cook a meal together. This happens most often when Mi Amor has a day off. However, sometimes he helps of days he gets off on time. Either way, he is great at helping with clean-up!

	-Read a book together

Do you think it is alright to share your kids photos online?

Have you ever gotten in a parenting argument with your spouse? If you have what did you fight about?

Fortunately my husband and I agree on how we should parent our children but many couples do not.

He has requested me to do several things in our relationship-all of which I have done and have done them because I love him and want to do those things for him. I have asked things of him and he hasn't done a thing. I know that the reason I'm doing these things is because God has called me to be a respectful and loving wife. He told me the other day that "couldn't" do this anymore and that he was considering divorce. The next night he told me that he had spoken to a lawyer and I found out from a mutual friend that his parents paid the retainer fee for the lawyer. I am devastated. We have a 2 year old and a 4month old. I need prayers for this time and prayers for my husband to seek the help I know that he needs.

Photo Contest

My son's picture that I submitted to Moonfrye's blog made it to the finals! just did a blog post on this but I wanted to hear from others too.
Right now dh and I are going through a lot. We are both extremely
stressed and edgy. Mainly he has issues that he's dealing with and
trying to overcome but since we are married they effect me too. On top
of that we are both stressed from work. So my question is -
how do you deal with it when both of you are stressed and you can't be
there to support each other the way you should? What do you do when you feel like you can't give anymore of yourself then you already have?

a crazy discovery

that has made me more awake in the morning.

Children with SMA lack a gene in their DNA that keeps the motor neurons thriving: Gwendolyn's body is completely paralyzed, she breathes from a machine, and eats from a tube. Her mind, however, is completely normal. She loves to play with stickers, watch Sesame Street and dress up like a princess. Researchers at UC Irvine are REALLY close to a cure for SMA, but they need funding to push it towards FDA approval. It is so exciting (yet frustrating) to know how close it is!
You can read all about Bill, Victoria and their beautiful princess Gwendolyn at GwendolynStrong.com They are a most amazing family and one that will touch your heart. JP Morgan Chase Bank has committed to donating $5 million dollars to non-profit organizations, $1 million of which was already distributed in December. Through a Facebook voting system, the top 100 non-profits were awarded $25,000 in cash. The Gwendolyn Strong Foundation was one of these winners (yippeee!), and 100% of the funds were sent directly to UC Irvine's SMA research team. Next up is the final round of voting for the BIG prize: $1,000,000. One million!! This voting is all done through Facebook, and started yesterday and ends on 1/22/2010.Imagine this: $1,000,000 towards SMA research could actually end this disease. Not "get the ball rolling" on research, not "hope for a cure," but actually end it. And, most importantly in my eyes, it could save Gwendolyn's life. The research that is sooooo close to FDA approval is one that could affect babies who already have SMA (like Gwendolyn), and could completely remove them from symptoms.
Money is holding back a cure. Other diseases, such as breast cancer and AIDS, have massive amounts of funding and research behind them, but "cures" are still unknown. The "cure" for SMA is just around the corner, but nothing can be done until the funds are there to continue the research.SMA is the #1 genetic killer of children under two years of age, and 1 in 40 adults (unknowingly) carry the gene to pass it on.How can you help? to Figh It is ridiculously simple:If you're a member of Facebook:1) Log On to Face Book 2) Click on "Vote for Charity" 3) Vote for The Gwendolyn Strong FoundationThat's it! It'll give you the option of posting on your status that you voted (do it!! with a message to your friends!!). How easy is that?!
Please go vote!
Thank you.

I admit that I am not consistent with either of them, and I did start both right in the middle of the Christmas season- hello, distractions here, there, and everywhere!
Anyways, but when I DO actively aim to act out a challenge or dare for my husband, sometimes it seems so easy. I am an all-or-nothing kind of girl: 90% of the time, I am the perfect wife (ha- note my sarcasm). But you know what I mean- I try my hardest to meet my husband's needs, say hi to him at the door, keep the house nice, do cute little extras for him, etc. However, there are those days when I don't feel like doing anything- I have seriously "blah" days and I am easily irritated by little things and the like.
So....what do you think about "saving" challenges and love dares until the days that you just don't want to go that extra mile? I feel like it might mean even more because if I am exhausted or irritated, not saying anything negative to my husband that particular day will be even more special than the day where I don't say anything negative but I am in a fabulous mood and he doesn't do anything to irritate me in the first place?
Aimee and the rest of you- I'd love your input on this. I hope I worded it right- let me know if I didn't explain this enough. Thank you:)

I'm giving away a flippin' waffle maker! I have scrapbooked all of my life, and put the most effort into the books that tell the history of my relationship with my husband.
When my husband was in the military, every time he was deployed, I would make him a scrapbook detailing all of our happy times together. We have had many ups and downs in our marriage, and I have continued to document all of our memories (well, most of them at least!) into scrapbooks over the years. My husband truly appreciates the effort I put into the books, and I frequently find him looking through them (even with my daughter).
Come join me and put your precious memories down on paper!

I've started a new interactive blog just for toddler moms!

It's called 365 Days of TV-Free Toddler Time and there will be lots of interacting and linky love! I suppose I will start this one. I vow to workout 5 days a week for an hour. I deserve an hour a day, right? A happy mom/wife makes a happy house. I plan to do light weights with the workout that Adam made up for me MWF & just cardio on Tues. & Thurs. I am also cutting back calories to around 1400 calories over 5-6 meals a day. A meal can be a banana for a snack so it really isn't as bad as it sounds. I know that 1400 calories doesn't seem like much but it really is a ton of food if you make the right choices. My metabolism stinks from sitting in this chair all day & only eating two meals so it needs a boost. When I diet at 1200 calories I can usually lose about 10 pounds in a month. Being that this is holiday time I didn't want to be that strict & I want this to be a life change, not temporary. When we get pregnant I will increase the needed 300 calories. Since it has been awhile since I have done anything, I should see results just by starting to move. I can't wait. That view from the mirror this evening was scary! So, have I convinced anyone to get started with me? I already have one accountability partner through the blog. She just kinda volunteered herself & I didn't even want anyone. It is much easier to cheat when you don't make a commitment to someone else. Oh yeah, I AM MAKING A COMMITMENT. I don't want to fail. Got it. Ready to go. You with me?
