What temp is your thermostat set to?

Started by Lolli , author of Better in Bulk 7/19/2010 10:06:49 AM

I'm curious. How cool do you keep your house when you've got the summer AC on? What about during the Winter?

In the Summer, I keep our thermostat at 77 or 78.

In the Winter, I keep it around 68.

Not sure--husband sets it--but it's ALWAYS too cold for me. I seriously have a space heater in my office that I use even in the summer.

76 in the summer and 68 in the winter.

Two years ago I was super pregnant (due in August) and I begged and pleaded to have the thermostat lower because I was always so hot.  My husband would pitch a fit about the cost if we lower it and blah, blah, blah.  So I was miserably hot all summer.  This summer he is complaining he is hot and will try to lower it to 75 and I freak out.  If I can be miserably hot and pregnant with the thermostat at 76 there is absolutely and positively NO WAY I will ever allow the tempt to be set lower than 76.  No exceptions, especially because he just says he's warm.  Too bad!  :-)

it's currently set to 78... which keeps the house a blistering 82...  of course, it's 110 outside, so anything lower than that makes me happy.  We keep a small portable AC unit in our bedroom and send the kids to the basement (which is about 75) so as not to die.

in winter - we settle for 68...  and socks.

We keep it freakishly cold in the summer, like high 60's!  And not much warmer in the winter.

Due to the aging process...

My thermostat stays on 60 year round... I would love it at 50 even but the ol goat's teeth get to chattering and I can't hear the TV!

No really...I do keep it as cool as possible, which is hard to do in an RV. The thermostat does stay set on about 65 year round...

So in the summer it's a nice chilly 73-4 and in the winter it's anywhere from 55-65 depending on outside temp. (I hate heaters and don't run them unless I really have to)

Really depends on the time of year.. here in fla no heat in the winter, usually.  Summer the a/c is set at 80 and stays there.. My house is really insulated well and 80 inside is cool.. with the ceiling fans going.. outside it's usually 98' or so!

Today it's 98' outside with a feels like 104'

72 at night 74 during the day.

My hubby always runs hot...and my heart baby prefers it on the cool side. (When she was little, she used to run a fever if it was above 76 and the low temp habit just stuck)

We do 68-70 in the winter.
