Blogging Insights?

Started by Tamara , author of Blog Conference Guide For the UnExperienced 4/16/2010 3:25:29 PM
I thought it'd be a good idea to share any blogging insights you have with any bloggers in the community that are newer to the game. So go ahead and share your thoughts!

My insight:
You don't have to blog DAILY to increase your readership (I did this, and kept up with it for awhile, but when you start getting involved in other things, it's hard to keep that pace up!).

I like when blogs have the option to Subscribe by Email so I recommend getting a Feedburner account.

Get a Facebook Fan Page and a Twitter to promote your blog.

Great tips Stacie. I completely agree! I was just coaching someone this weekend on blogging and also sang the praises of Feedburner, fan pages, and Twitter.

Thanks for joining the discussion!

Thanks ladies! I'm a new blogger and this is exactly the kind of advice I'm looking for! More things to add to my blog now...

I would say to make sure your email address is active in your profile so people can reply to your comments and continue the conversation.

Also, I really like it when people have all their subscription and social media stuff in one place.  I use my dash to read blogs, and I prefer to click "follow" (for blogger blogs, obviously).  There have been times that I did not see the follow button until after I signed up via feed or email.  Once I scrolled a couple times down the page, that's where the follow button was.  So, make sure to put all your "stuff" in one spot.

Hey all! I'm the person Tamara mentioned that she was coaching about blogging - she was such a good help! I'm very new to this whole thing :) I'll take any tips I can get! I've made a lot of changes to my site since talking with Tamara - I think I'm on my way!!

Liz - great tip! And Nicole, glad all of the tips and the meeting were helpful!

Another tip.....vary the length of your posts. While the content matters most, some like long posts while other like quick reads. It's nice to vary them once in awhile to provide a little bit for everyone and their preferred post style... (plus, keeps you from feeling like you have to write novels for every post!).
