Why do you blog and what do you blog about?

I started my blog because I got so many questions about having a large family, homeschooling, home management, etc.  I figured if I wrote about it that would give those who wanted to know a resource and allow me to share on my own schedule.

I blog about homeschooling, having a large family (we're expecting our 10th child), home management and creative ideas to make life easier.

Our blog is primarily a focus on life - and death - with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a progressive neuromuscular disease and the leading genetic killer of children under two. Helen's ('Lucy') baby, Jeffrey, had the most severe type; Cindy's ('Ethel') son, Kevin, has a milder type and is a sophomore in high school.

We do venture quite often beyond the SMA borders, however :) One of our favorite things is to share blogs of others faced with special assignments. We just wish we had more time!!!

I started blogging in January of this year in the hopes of making alternative educational options more available to parents.  Our children are all so different and as parents we know that not every student benefits from a cookie-cutter, assembly line education, but I think finding a good fit for each child's individaul learning style/needs can be a task and can become overwhelming.  And in certain states, some educational options are not available.  I remember a few years back when the state of California told parents they had to be certified teachers in order to homeschool their own children, Washington State still has no charter school law, and lots of states still do not allow for online education.  Lots of organizations have formed over the years to help give parents a voice when educaiton policy is considered and I'd like to share with parents how they can help in order to find a good fit for their child.

Sorry, I didn't mean to go on, but I am so passionate about choice in education and helping inform parents.  Thanks for the chance to share.

Hi Kimberly ~ Hope all is going well with you.

I began my blog over a year and a half ago toward the end of a very difficult time in my life. It was kind of like therapy, but also because I wanted to blog about family values, homeschooling, ministry, and my Christian faith. I have pretty much stuck to that by I digress every once in a while :-). It has been an interesting adventure being a male blogger in a mostly female world but it has been very rewarding.

I started my blog so we could share our daily life and homeschool life with family (tho ironically, only my dad reads it..) after I started it, I realized how much I had always loved writing and how much I missed writing.  I began enjoying visiting with new friends online, and then I noticed I was getting visits from people looking for information on homeschooling, so I started writing more about homeschooling- what it looks like daily, what books we use, the legal aspects in our State..the whole socialization question.  My blog is a mix of our family life and inspirational looks at homeschooling.

I wish folks would comment more...

Hi Everyone!

I started my blog a few years ago when my husband and I started down our difficult journey to parenthood.  I received lots of questions and concerns from our friends and family who wanted to follow our journey.. so I figured a blog was the best way to post our updates.  And since then I was able to give birth to our wonderful son and now I post updates on our family.  Like Tim, I find blogging to be therapeutic.

I kept hearing moms of young children say they they needed advice and help from 'older' moms, but couldn't find any!  I decided that I was definitely an older mom, and with 8 children I was sure that I must have learned something that I could pass along!  Thus, the blog was born!

My blog is about all aspects of my life..parent of a teen, aunt of a beautiful little boy who happens to be autistic, a volunteer with hospice and an animal rescue. I have always enjoyed writing..and reading other people's thoughts.

I guess the thing people would say about my blog is that I am passionate about a lot of things and writing about them helps me to keep some balance..and that more often than not if nothing else, my crazy life is more than a little entertaining!

I started my blog over a year ago. At first it was just about book reviews. Now, I have ventured into my life as a stay at home mom who doesn't fit into the mold of the "perfect" mom.

I post about; life, children, menus, book reviews, reviews, giveaways.

I am currently having a giveaway on my blog sponsored by CafePress for a free t-shirt for an adult and child. Any design!

I actually have 8 blogs and 1 forum which can be accessed from the navigation bar on any of the blogs.

My main blog, The Redhead Riter, is my life, my discoveries and motivations.  I am binding the posts each year as a journal for my daughter to have when I am no longer around.  I also offer giveaways.  I have a bunch of autographed books coming up.

6 of my blogs, collectively referred to as The Blogrolls, are teaching blogs by subject matter i.e. Food & Recipes, Contests & Giveaways, Personal Journal, Decorative Interiors, Crafting & Selling, Other Stuff.   I also advertise other blogs on this list so that everyone can find blogs of like mind.

Ask Redhead Riter are the answers to questions I am asked thus the title!

My blog is about having a really small family- just my three year old and me. As a single mother I don't have anyone to with whom to share my delight and amazement about my daughter so i write about it instead.
