Do you own any guns?

This is not meant to stir up controversy.  Just curious who among us owns guns.  We do.  We have a shotgun, a .22 rifle, and a bb gun.  They are not for protection...just recreation.  They are up out of harm's way, and unloaded at all times.  The ammunition is stored in a very separte location.

We have several. Used for recreation as well. We keep ours locked up tight, with the ammo seperate like you said.

My dad always had guns, he used his for protection, but he they were always out in plain sight and he taught us very young about gun safety. My 13 year old cousin was accidentally killed by his older brother when they found their mom's gun that she had hidden and started playing with it. They had never been taught anything about them and even though they were old enough to have known better, they obviously didn't and the result was tragic.

Do you even have to ask?  :)

We currently own three.  We have Walther P 22 just for fun at the shooting range.  My husband has a Springfield XD40.  I have a Beretta Tomcat 32.

We are all about educating our children to avoid things like Andrea said.  That is so so sad.

nope, and I don't know anyone who does.  Just not the thing around here, I guess?

We have no guns, of any type.

I have an old Japanese rifle that my dad took from a Japanese soldier when he was in WWII.  He arrested the guy with a bar of soap.

Also, we've got an old Derringer(sp) that was my granddads.

Never shot either of them.

We have several.  Although, I will not specify what.  My wife also carries for personal protection.  Some are handy, just in case.  We have trained our children from babies not to touch, and they never have.  Now I have the joy of teaching them to shoot.

I just had to reply because I see now that you can reply right from email! Finally! But Scott, I think it's smart that you have taught them from a young age not to touch them. Crazy that your wife even carries one!!

We have several, I was a police officer before my youngest was born, my husband still is a police officer so my kids even see guns on a daily basis.  They are locked up and the keys are hidden.  My husband's duty gun is loaded at all times but locked in a safe when he is at home, all other guns are unloaded with the ammo kept separate, he will probably start taking my oldest (5 years old) shooting this year, our philosophy is to teach them to respect guns, not fear them, even with their toy guns they are not allowed to point them at any person or living thing.

Kelly "respect guns, not fear them" I completely agree with this. It was the very way my brother and I were raised, and I think it helps extinguish any curiosity that comes from not having a healthy respect for them.
