Started by The Healthy Moms Magazine , author of The Healthy Moms Magazine 7/22/2011 7:33:35 PM

The Healthy Moms Magazine is excited to partner with Amy McCready , founder of Positive Parenting Solutions to offer a free live training webinar on Monday, July 25th from 9-10 PM EASTERN Time.

The session is…Get Kids to Listen without Nagging, Reminding or Yelling and Amy McCready promises that we’ll walk away with concrete tools we can use the next day and see results. I know you'll be especially interested in learning the 5 R’s of Fair and Effective Consequences. You can view, hear, and interact with Amy similar to that of an on-site seminar. Participants are not required to have a webcam.

Please visit our blog for more details on how to sign up for this free event. I promise it will be inspiring and helpful if you are having difficulty with your children.

Do you have any parenting tips you want to share?

Working on the not yelling/nagging right now....

Parenting tips?  I read somewhere to stop and say, "What are you, (age)?"  It does help when I say, "What are you, 4?"  Totally puts the situation in check.

Nagging will always happen in our house, since one of my kids has ADHD and you have to tell him something 42 times before it gets through.

We recently heard of something called the Family Pact, and put it to use in our house. It's made a huge difference in yelling. You and your kids make a pact in writing to respect one another (no yelling, hitting siblings, ignoring etc) Anytime the pact is "broken" the person (child or parent) has to apologize and do one nice thing for the one they broke the pact on. It could be anything from helping on a chore, writing a letter, draw a picture, etc.
