I really really really want to run. I can't right now, but I'm hoping to start off slowly and work my way in.

It is awesome. I have run 3 marathons, 3 triathlons, and countless half-marathons. Do it (that's what NIKE says anyway)!

I just started the Couch to 5K running program.  I am only 4 days into it and I can't run fast at all but it works you up to being able to run a 5k in 30 minutes within 9 weeks.

Funny that you ask.  I hate running but did run a marathon in 2000.  I was suckered into it though.  I thought I was running a 5K, and then found out about the marathon and how it would help raise funds for children with leukemia.  How could anyone say no?

I know people said this to me and I didn't believe it, but honestly, if *I* can run a marathon, ANYONE can.  Good sneakers are key.  Good luck!

Lynn I do agree on the shoes.  I had a pair of Reebok shoes that I first started with and bought a pair of Saucony Grid C2's yesterday and ran with them last night and it made a world of difference.  I heard Brooks shoes are awesome for running as well.
Jackie--after doing P90X, the couch to 5K will be a cake walk for you!!  It doesn't really feel like work at all.  At least not yet!

Above: that's me during the 10k run portion of the Tri Miami Olympic distance duathlon.

After biking for over 5 years, I decided to take up running. I wanted to be able to run a half marathon, and along the way got hooked into racing duathlons (run-bike-run).

I've done six 1/2 marathons and 14 duathlons and tons of cycling events in the past 2 years. 22 races on my schedule for this year: Run Diva's Races.

I am 46 years old, have exercise induced asthma and other annoying health problems. You are never too old to start walking, jogging, running!

P.S. Running has helped me loose 20 pounds over the past year. Hoping to loose another 10-20 pounds this year.

Take care,

Congrats to all of you beginning a running program.  I have to agree, Brooks shoes are great, but I'm biased.  I run for Brooks as part of the Brooks ID team and I'm a coach for new runners up to ultra-marathoners.  If there's anything I can do to help any of you getting started, please don't hesitate to ask.
