Christian perspective on meds?

Started by I am blessed! , author of Miscellaneous Musings of a 5X Mom- Quiverfull, Homeschooling, Large Family, Bibl 8/7/2010 9:25:33 AM

This is a bit of a loaded question since I've just started posting a series on this topic on my blog.  I would like to interact with others on this, though.

How do you feel about meds?  Grateful?  Intimidated?  Reserved?  I've felt all of these in one situation or another- even at the same time!

Check out the first post in my series if you have time and come back here to interact.

Thanks for joining the discussion!

I fall into the grateful category, but cautiously so.  I do agree with you that meds are directly or indirectly created/provided by God in his wisdom and sovereignty.  I believe that He chooses to heal or not to heal through the meds, and that He deserves the glory, not doctors, chemists, or any other man.  I also believe He heals or doesn't through other treatments, like homeopathic.

I also recognize that sinful man can misuse modern meds.  There are many agendas out there and we have to be wise and put our faith in God and not the treatment.

You're right that I have sciatica pain, but the doctors can't find a reason for it/source.  I'm interested in this series.  Have fun on vacation!

Thanks Dawn.  And you anticipated some of what's coming up in the rest of the series :) .

PS- I hope they find what's causing your pain.  Pinched nerve?  The pain can certainly come and go with that.

Really good post today, Celee.

When I get the nerve up (that pun really wasn't intended lol) to go back to the doctor, I'll talk to him about a pinched nerve.  We have discussed it, but the focus has been on my back.  Perhaps its elsewhere but sending pain to the back instead of vice versa.  Praying for wisdom and appreciate your prayers.
