I read a great post by Ron Edmondson today and I thought I would pass it along. He talks about dealing with life's disappointments.

We each have times when things are not going our way. I have been looking for a new job for almost a year, my boys (teenagers) have been testing their limits, etc... I love his 7 pieces of wisdom. Is there anything you would add??

Here are 7 pieces of wisdom for the disappointments of life:

Keep your heart close to God during times of disappointment. God is most likely at work in ways you cannot presently see or understand. Often disappointment ushers in some of the greatest seasons of God for your life. Don’t miss it by not listening to Him.

Wait for your emotions to heal before you make major decisions. We tend to make irrational decisions immediately following times of disappointment. Let some time pass and make sure you are thinking rational again before you implement major changes in your life.

Don’t quit until the next thing comes. While you shouldn’t make major changes, an equally dangerous tendency to give up or stall until the next opportunity arrives or lives gets “easier”. You may need a resting period, but keep your mind and hands busy doing what there is to do today. It will help protect your heart and mind from the attack of fears and doubts.

Don’t allow a disappointment to determine your sense of self-worth. Let God and the people who know you best help determine that. You don’t have to be defined by your disappointment.

You are not alone, even though it may feel that way. Disappointments are a part of everyone’s experience. There is likely someone who has experienced the same type disappointment. Don’t be afraid to find them and let them walk through this period with you.

Hey, it’s Rita! I’m desperate and need your help. Spam isn’t something I enjoy; therefore, I hope you feel this is more personal than that.

After having three children, I need to shed about 75 pounds. Where I live gets into the triple digits - there are days where it’s just not an option to take our baby out in this heat. Right now, I’m one of 20 finalists to win a Smooth Fitness treadmill. This contest ends tonight (Sunday). It’s super easy to vote for me. It only takes these three easy clicks:

			Visit this blog post: http://www.mamavation.com/2010/07/top-20-smooth-fitness-nominees-go-vote.html

Locate & check the box next to my name, @lovelyritaann, on the voting poll

		Click Vote

(*Please Note: You can vote from any & every device that has internet access – computers, laptops, phones, iPods, iPads, Nintendo DSi’s, etc.*)

It’s absolutely that simple. I’m a little behind; however, with amazing friends like you behind me, I could have a chance at winning this awesome prize that would change my life! It would be appreciated if you voted for me & shared this information in any way you can. My apologies on the short notice. I’m also hosting a giveaway for a $50 gift card on my blog for my voters, if I am to win. My giveaway was pre-approved by the contest creator before I posted it. Feel free to enter yourself & share this information! You can find my giveaway by visiting my blog post here:http://lovelyritaann.com/2010/07/26/vote-for-me-win-a-50-gift-card/

Recently I had an interview for a job my husband is very excited for me to have. I had promised my husband I would apply for this job before I even read exactly what it was. Long story short he got the information from a friend, he called me excited, and I said "Ok I will throw my hat in."Well I had an interview, it went well, I do know I am the least experienced from the others they will be or have interviewed. And I don't want the job. I am praying I don't have the decision to accept the job or not. After much praying and thinking about it, I have decided I really don't want it.The good news is another position opened up in the same department, that is more me. One I am very excited about. I applied for it today and I hope I am called for an interview. What I fear most? Is getting the first job and deciding not to take it. I will upset my husband greatly, I will upset my in-laws who think this is the best thing that could happen to me.Unfortunately I don't feel the same way. Suggestions?? (Yes I have tried telling my husband how I feel, he says I am chicken and don't believe in myself enough. Basically suck it up and put your big girl panties on).I have been so stressed and praying this will not be a decision I have to make.

My First Giveaway!

It's official. Tim Challies is one of those people. I have come to respect his opinion, he is not someone I agree with 100% all of the time (but I sure agree 99.5% of the time, ha!), but someone's opinion who I greatly value. He is an avid reader (like me) and I have learned a lot from him about being a book reviewer. But that is enough about me, Tim Challies is offering people a deal of a lifetime, he is encouraging people to Become a Friend of a Friend. What does that mean?
When you become a Friend of the Blog you receive immediate access to many benefits, along with all the other benefits to be announced over the course of your one-year subscription. Already there is at least $160 in value in things you will actually use, read, listen to! And there is more to come. One of the MANY benefits is the first 250 friends will receive a $20 Gift Certificate from ChristianAudio. (THIS WILL GO FAST!) Basically with the $20 GC and then the $10 GC to Westminster Books you are receiving all your money back, but there is so much more besides those two.

I was excited to receive $10 Gift Certificate from Westminster Books, which I turned around and purchased The Bruised Reed that Challies will be covering in his next "Reading the Next Classic Together." For me personally that was a WIN-WIN. A side benefit is anyone who becomes a member before April 30th has the opportunity to win a free Kindle, a $259 value.
Check out all the benefits and then come and become a Friend of a Friend.

What Blogging Platform?

I use WordPress and I love it!.
