I look for themes that reflect deep spritiuality and brokeness.  I look for words that describe our common brokeness and only by grace do we heal.  I look for depth not fluff.  I look for metaphorical interpertations of the bible as well as truth.  I shy away from very fundamentalist right.  I look for compassion behind the words.  I look for the story of the author.  We are our stories and we can find communtiy in  our vulnerableness and sharing our brokeness.   It is how we heal.  I am particularly drawn to writers who have suffered and struggled a great deal with their journey with God.

Do you think most people are looking for fluff? What has your experience been with that?

Something shorter in length, well-worded, and includes a photograph or two!

I like to read things that I can take something away from that makes me better in my own life, whether that is spiritually, as a wife or mother, organizationally, home management etc.
