What is your favorite holiday tradition?

This was the first year since my son was born that I really started to notice that we actually have acquired quite a few of our own traditions. . . everything from going as a family to select our Christmas tree, to homemade cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning (thank you, mom!).

My kids love to set up the nativity set, and it is probably one of my favorite holiday traditions as well ... and each year I love to hear the stories that they tell as they "play" with the nativity characters (and yes, we have had a few casualties over the years... but all in all, everyone has been glued back together just fine)

There is something so cozy about tradition. . . and the familiar feelings that come with those moments that re-occur each year. I think that my very favorite part of the holidays are those quite times alone with my family when I can just sit and look around and be thankful for so many blessings. I love to just take the time to sit back with a warm cup of coffee (made perfect by a touch of International Delight creamer, of course!) and honestly, my morning cup of coffee gives me the time that I need each day to really think about the day ahead and the direction that I want it to go. I guess it's kind of a daily tradition for me...but during the holidays, it feels like a perfect way to head into each day thinking about the season and all that it means.

Our favorite tradition is going to church on Christmas Eve. We come home after and the kids get to open any gifts that have been mailed to them from family members. Then we have a huge feast!

My favorite Holiday Tradition is doing Yankee Swap. I think its a fun game and a great way to save the family money instead of buying everyone a gift.

Having the kids up before the sun, checking to find the candy cane under their pillows, which means Santa has come & gone :o)

Ever since I can remember by parents, sisters, and I always put the Christmas tree and decorations up the day after Thanksgiving. While we are putting up the cheer we have the movie "White Christmas" playing in the background on repeat... all day! Everytime a certain song comes on my sisters and I stop what we are doing and sing/dance along with it. I am 27, married, and have a baby due in January 2012, and wouldn't trade this tradition for the world!

My favorite Holiday tradition is getting to spend it with my family every year. Since my brother passed away, it has been tough since his birth and death day are all two weeks prior to Christmas. It has been 7 years and his Birthday was Christmas Eve, so we light a candle for his birthday, that is our new tradition. Along with the picking out of the tree and making cookies while the kids decorate.
