Early, On Time or Late?

Started by Connie , author of Smockity Frocks 7/15/2009 2:29:11 PM

Our family likes to be on time.  We strive to be on time.  If we show up at any point after the announced starting time of an event, we consider ourselves late.

For instance, if a party starts at 6:00 and we arrive at 6:01, we consider that late.

I have noticed, though, that some folks don't consider themselves late until 15, 30, or 45 minutes after the start time.

What about you?  Are you the early, on time, or late type?  What do you consider "late"?

We would be the on time type.  When it's just me and the children we tend to be earlier than when Mark is with us.  When he is with us we tend to be very close to "late" (using your definition).

Love your BlogFrog!

We are definately the "on time" types. Well, we used to be until my daughters turned into teenagers. They have to check their hair 'one more time'!!! I consider late to be 10 minutes or later. Most of my friends are late for everything!!! Drives me nuts!

Blessings,

Kimberly,

I find it funny to be waiting with the kids in the van for my husband to come out of the house.  I think of the stereotype of the husband honking with the wife inside.

Kim,

We have friends that think any time with the same hour is not late.  6:57 would still be fine if the party started at 6:00. Drives me nuts, too!

I have complete respect for any mom who can pile multiple kids in a car, van, or bus and be somewhere on time or early. I have three teens and getting anywhere together is a constant stream of last minute "forgots".  Bathroom, drink of water, ipod, etc.  I love being on time but I must admit that some of those last-minute trips are mine.  Hats off to you all for being so committed to being on time!

I am a spaz about being on time. I cannot stand to be late, and for me on time means 15 minutes early. Unfortunately I can get too hyper about being on time and that gets every one in a hurried mess. I need to find a balance.
I do think being on time is very important. I once hear someone said that being late is rude because what you are saying is that your time is more important than the person you make wait...
Something to think about.

Generally, we are on time as it is a personal pet peeve of mine to be late.  One instance when being late is ok and actually polite(IMHO) is when you are arriving at a party.  I try to arrive 10-15 min after it starts to give the host/hostess a few more minutes to finish everything.

On time definitely! I'm with you, being a minute past the time we were suppose to be there is late. I feel incredibly guilty if I am ever late.

Late. I hate it. I'm such a scatterbrain I can't get it together. I start getting ready 2 hours before we need to leave and still wind up late because I'm such a scatterbrain. On the rare occasion I can get my act together, one of my kids has to spit up or poop as we're walking out the door.

Late to me is any time after the exact start of the event. 6:01 for a 6:00 event would be late to me too.

We are generally on-time for most events with the exception of dinner at one particular family's home.  I don't know why we can't get there on time!  And we are always waiting on my husband as well.  After everyone is in the vehicle he goes through the house checking appliances and lights.
Dh never hurries any where!!  Church is the only time he presses people to be ready.  It's amazing!!!!
