I Need Ideas! How Do You Use Baking Soda?

Started by Liz , author of A Nut in a Nutshell 4/16/2012 11:00:10 PM

Oh baking soda, I feel as if I've forsaken thee. I am a ninnyhammer, and I have only been availing myself of your abilities whilst concocting baked goods for my loved ones. And even then, I have cheapened myself to store brands. A challenge has been laid down by ARM & HAMMER to make use of their product for a month's time, and I shall begin by using it thusly to omit foul odors wafting about my refrigerated domicile. Word. baking-soda-fridge So help me, people! I have a month to use baking soda and I need ideas on new and creative ways to use it!

The maker of ARM & HAMMER® products challenged me to switch to ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda and this summer, they are giving away $12,000 in the ARM & HAMMER Switch & Save Challenge Sweepstakes. To be entered to win one (1) of twelve (12) $1,000 prizes, simply reply to the question below!

Pour baking soda and vinegar down your sink drains to disinfect and clean.

I have a septic system so I worry about using to many chemicals at my house. If hair clogs my shower I pour a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice to unclog it.

Well, I honestly haven't tried this yet, but I saw on a show that a celebrity uses a baking soda and mashed up strawberry concoction to brush her teeth with. She claims it does a great job whitening her teeth!

I'm not going to lie.... I really only use it for baking even though I know that there are tons of other uses. Once in a while I'll remember to put one in the fridge but that's about it.

i made a paste with water and scrubbed my glass shower doors to remove the soap scum. My main use is baking though :)

I can't think of any use other than cooking. But some people do use it in the washing machine for cloth diapers.

I've only used it to freshen up things, like the garbage can or a room.

I'm one of those people who use baking soda for everything! it's a great cleaner, and i just used it (with water) to clean all of my kids' plastic toys. Even got the outdoors ones that were covered in dirt and grime totally clean!

I use Baking Soda in my fridge that is the number one, however, I have laid it down on floor of a cat litter pan before placing cat litter on top, it really assisted in soaking up odors there.
