Facebook for bloggers...

Started by Mama M. , author of My Little Life 1/2/2011 8:51:58 PM

Is it worth it?

I was very against the idea for quite some time, sounded like it was just another way for people to get "liked"!

However...a friend recently told me some of the benefits of having a FB account connected to your blog. She said that if people are serious Facebookers, having your blog feed to FB people will see it on their stream and remember to read.

What are your thoughts on the blogger "Fan pages" on FB?

I actually have my strongest presence on Facebook. I've recently reached out to other social media, but that's where I have the most clicks from still.

It felt really weird setting up my own "Fan Page", anything self-promotional feels pretty weird...

but I did it for exactly the reason your friend stated, having it pull the feed and automatically "promote" a post on facebook is so convenient and people can click over or not click over, but they are exposed to a reminder about your blog as they scroll through their updates...

Seems like a lot of friends and family view my blog through Facebook, but I have very few people that I personally don't know that have "liked" my blog FB page.  Twitter is by far the biggest for me and I have only been on it for 2 weeks.

That being said, I am pretty new to blogging and I need all the help I can get!

When I've checked my stats I've been surprised by how many clicks I get from facebook- it really is a big part of many people's lives I guess...

they say facebook and twitter are making the biggest impressions nowadays.  whatever happened to myspace?

The myspace thing...I know NOTHING about!! I think it was beyond my time (i.e. I was too old). My impression is that Facebook started out as the "grown up" version of myspace!

Okay, after reading all of this, I'm totally gonna do it!! Feel a little hyopcritical, after all my "negative blog fan page" talk...but it makes sense to me now!

Okay...so, as you can probably deduce, I try to maintain some sort of "anonymity" on my blog...how do I create a FB page that won't show my name when I "like" someone else?

I'm so confused. I tried to set up an entirely different account...but the way it is looking, I should just use my personal account???

What did you all do?! Help me!!

Earlier i had read the post where it is written that Facebook was the most searched term in 2010.

I agree!  I get a ton of hits from Facebook.  More than I expected!

I don't "like" a lot of blog pages on FB for that very reason!  If someone has a way for my real profile not to show when I "like" a page that would be GREAT!  I would love to "like" people using Mommy's Camera.
