Weaned!!

Started by Christine , author of Memories by Christine 8/27/2010 6:41:56 AM

Woo-hoo! My 12-month-old son is weaned! Both of my kids had a lot of allergies during infancy, so I have been staying away from lots of fish, nuts, etc....and now....I can eat sushi and PBJ again! :) And, of course (Mama M:), Nutella!

Have a great weekend- just wanted to share;) Did any of you guys have to stay away from certain foods as BF mamas?

While nursing my daughter, I couldn't eat any dairy. And I love all things cheese! I slowly started eating a little dairy once she was about 4 mo old.

With my youngest son, I ate like a bird... everything seemed to upset his tummy. Ugh! The things we do for our kids, right?

NUTELLA?! You had to give up NUTELLA???????

I think I would've just kept an epi-pen nearby. ;)

I am so grateful, but I didn't have to give up anything. I could eat beans with broccoli and jalapeno peppers smothered in cheese (not that I did...grody)...and nothin'!

Well, I take that back...I did have to stay away from beans for a bit when my oldest was a newborn...made him cranky and gassy!!

Congrats, Christine, on the weaning! There's always a certain amount of wistfulness and relief at that, isn't there?!

You know what? There was a wistfullness with it- he's my baby boy and while I enjoy not being bitten at each mealtime these days;), there was a certain aspect of nursing that made him my little baby, and now he's older...sorry, I can't put it exactly into words...but I know you know what I mean:)

Christine, I so know what you mean... nursing the girls was SOOO painful at the end and I cried through each feeding... but the ache when we were finished was so much deeper than any of that pain... at the time, I wasn't sure if I'd be having more babies and to know that I might have sniffled and gnawed (on a belt) my way through the very last nursing EVER devastated me.  BUT, being able to go out in public in non-nursing friendly tops and not bring extra blankets or look for places to hide and sit etc... so much freedom!  I so hear you on bittersweet... I think this last baby of mine is going to totally and completely dissolve me... watch me nurse till he/she's 12.  Oy.
