But, I'm kinda sad.

This whole whale trainer death has touched me in a way I can't even explain.

I don't even know why I'm really posting this...but, I'm so sad.

Once upon a time, I wanted to be a whale trainer...I am forever and always intrigued, amazed, in awe of whales. They are such magnificent creatures...

I just feel so...so...sad about this whole thing.

There...I just had to get it out.

I totally agree with you!

I am torn too. I feel like they are really neat animals and I love watching them. Then on the other hand...they are called killer whales for a reason. I don't think he meant to hurt her...I think he was just trying to "play" with her.

Still....so sad...tragic...

A whale trainer at Sea World Orlando was "attacked" by a killer whale and killed last week.

Apparently he dragged her into the pool by her pony tail and she died of drowning and traumatic injuries.

Makes me teary talking about it again...we've been to Sea World a couple of times in the last few years...and I love whales and Sea World and I feel horrible about the way she died.

So sad...

Oh my goodness!  This is terrible!  Sorry to dredge this up again.  Here...delete the thread!  no more sadness!

Mama M. I feel the same way. I actually moved to San Diego when I was younger because I wanted to be a dolphin trainer. I love that place, and had a season pass the entire time I lived there. I used to go by myself all the time, and I did work there for a short while (not as a trainer, but as an educator - it didn't pay all that well though).

I am sad too. The entire thing makes me sad. That this persons family now has to deal with his loss is a tragedy. That people now want to euthenize an animal which arguably was just doing what is in it's nature is heart wrenching to me. That Sea World (a place I really do love and that I really do think goes a long way in their conservation efforts) is now under attack makes me want to defend, even though I don't know if I should.

I just wanted to say - I feel you!
