what was your baby's first food?

Started by Christine, author of Memories by Christine 2/4/2010 12:50:32 PM

After 2 solid months of plain old rice cereal, I just gave my baby J his very first bite of avocados.

With my daughter a few years back, her first foray into "real" food was carrots and chicken.

How about you all? :)

I've always started with pears.  I've read they're one of the least allergenic foods, and it's always worked well for us.  Then we moved up to sweet potatoes and carrots and bananas and avocados... :-)

Both of my kids had sweet potatoes as their first real food.  They loved them, and it was my go-to food when they turned their noses up at other foods.

Actually even though Pears and Apples are knowned to be less of an allergy problem, I foudn out the hard way they are in a way part of the nectarine family (as the pollen goes from them to peaches...) and my daughter is allergic to them.
My daughters first foods after being BF and rice ceral was also avocados, green beans and carrots

I can't remember if it was avocado or sweet potato because we started both in the same week. I'm picturing orange all over the back of his hand, so I am thinking it was sweet potato.

I want to say carrots were our first foods after the cereals, but am actually drawing a blank, so it might have been peas...I do the bf and my husband does most of the solids...I really resist the end of EBF...
