Marie Claire thinks "Fatties" are gross...

Started by Shayna , author of Life: Forward 10/27/2010 12:16:03 PM

Or so their blog post says - I'm angry.  It's not okay to put out a post that claims that fat people shouldn't kiss in public, that being overweight is the same as being a drug addict, or that weight loss is easy - I already ranted about it on Life: Forward - what do you guys think?  I encourage anyone who is as angered by this as I am to speak out against Marie Claire - and if you subscribe, to cancel your subscription.

I do think her blog post was offensive. If it wasn't for the fact that there's a good chance she gets some sort of revenue share/pay per click money, I'd blog about it and link to it.

I will be emailing the editors with my feelings on this post!

The article is offensive, as is her add on (forced) apology at the bottom.  She clearly is lacking in the manners department.

Over the years one of my regular statements to my daughters has been that we don't judge people's bodies.

Very offensive. I won't read it. I hate when people dump on others for any reason. And I don't want her to think she is getting lots of attention/traffic by posting something offensive.

I'm with the masses - I won't even read it, because I'm sure that's the ploy.  Or at least part of it! Marie Claire pays her to take the "fall" then they come out with a statement how they are using PLUS SIZE - size 12 - models now - so they are politically correct. BLEH. Which is why I subscribe to only BH&G.

Of course it's offensive!  Marie Claire knows it's offensive.  Everyone knows it's offensive.  It was a strategic ploy to draw attention.

It's more of the same manure that's spewed out of those type of magazines.  These are likely the same types who will bash religious people, conservatives, and anyone who is different than them.  Yet, they'll scream bloody murder if anyone says anything at all which could be considered politically incorrect.

Oy vey. I'm not even going to read such nastiness.

My great grandmother was one of the fattest people I have ever known, but sheesh, she had 13 children on a farm and had ZERO appliances.  Can you imagine washing clothes for 13 children and 2 adults on a scrub board while killing the chickens for dinner, darning the socks, etc.  She lived to be over 90 years old, but her husband died when he was in his early 40's.  She lived alone ALL THOSE YEARS.  My point is that she was fat and so what?  She was also one of the nicest smelling people because she always smelled like powder.  She was so cute with her big powder puff.  So what if she was fat.  I loved her and so did everyone else.  Now I have medical problems that make it REALLY hard to lose any weight, so the person that condemns fat people - well, I hope they get really, really, really fat some day so they know what it feels like.  Too bad I don't have magical powers LOL Poof* You're fat!

That is outrageous for anyone to make such an insensitive remark about someone's size. If you don't like fat, then don't be fat. However if someone is fat then don't bash them. What good does this accomplish? None!!!! I won't go to this blog to read it because it does sound like a ploy to draw an audience, which is dispicable.

I checked it out, and I think they did it purposely for publicity purposes.  Did you notice that you have to "join" their site before you can state your opinion?  I wouldn't give them the satisfaction.  I don't know if is the writer or even her "boss" in in blog frog, (I hope they are), but God would not be happy with them talking about His creation that way. I myself don't approve of "making out" , (I don't see anything wrong with a small quick peck to show affection) in public,  I don't care what size we are we, we all have souls and are loved by God.  We should not judge, that is His job, so this young  lady is purely in the wrong for speaking out and taking what seems to be her own issues out on others.  If she doesn't like it, don't watch it.  This show was purely put in place for others to see that it doesn't matter what size you are we all have love in our hearts and like to show it.  I'm overweight, (by about 50 pounds) and I show affection in public if I want to, but I don't go to an extreme.  Deep affection I think should be left for private moments, but that has nothing to do with weight, just courtesy.  I don't like to see ANYONE petting or making out, (whatever they call it nowdays) in  public to me that is disrespectful to everyone around including themselves.  Ok, I've written my post.  LOL!  Sorry about that, most of y;all know by now when I get started, it's hard for my fingers to stop.  GOD BLESS EVERYONE this fine moring!
