I was 18 for the first marriage, no wedding.  EVERYONE was so pissed at us, pissed at the other family etc, that our happiness wasn't considered at all.

I'd love to have a really wonderful anniversary to be like a wedding with the dinner etc, but I don't have that kind of money to spend, so I guess we'll never really have that celebration.

Wow Mary.  30+ years is quite an accomplishment.  I didn't have a wedding the second time and my family was furious with me too.  The first time it was very small, but if we had gone to the justice of peace then, I would have been fine with it.  I know they are beautiful and fun, but it costs so much money! 

Husband and I kinda did things in the reverse order.  We had our first child when I was only 22 (dated since I was 19), but we didn't marry until I was 28 and we had just had our 2nd child.  We are working on being married for 6 years and we now have 4 children.  Marriage is WORK!  And I look forward to lots of more decades together...

It's so encouraging to see and hear about so many long, successful marriages on here!!

I was going to say which time too...but I'll just let that slide....LOL  I got married at 52...last year. Today is our one year anni. So, that makes me an old broad of 53.  whooo...gettin old !!

I was 19 and my husband 24. He was engaged twice before me. I guess that makes me his 3rd time charm! (Hopefully he doesn't think I'm the strike out!! jk) We have been married for 4 1/2 years and have two kids and two dogs.

Marriage is a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice.. but it's also filled with a lot of joy and a lot of love.

Well, I have to say it, I'm a glutton for punishment!  It took me 3 times to figure that out!  I'm kind of dense!   The first i had been 18 for 3 weeks, the second I was 25, and my present one I was 32.  (Third time's the charm, or 3 strikes and I'm out!) Never again!  Too old and set in my ways to break in anyone new! LOL!

LOL!  Shucks! At 4 1/2 years, your still newly weds!  Give it about 20 more and then you'll have a better idea which one it is. LOL!  Naw!  As long as you BOTH work at it, it will work.  It's when it becomes a one-way street that things get shakey.
