Yeah, that's what I said. But not an option for this person, I guess since she does not need any care. Independent except for money.

Scary thought.I don't know what I'd to do. Probably what Kristi said, assistance programs.

What about communities for older individuals? Not 'old folks homes' but communities where they have their own place to live, but also the assistance of the community operators & each other, if they need it? They are generally cheaper than buying your own home/renting & may, since they cater to older individuals have assistance programs available. I know they have some in Arizona (some of my parents relatives have lived in this type of community) & have heard of some in other areas. There are also programs where they deliver food or have nursing care, in your home, if needed & even transportation, for those can't drive. Maybe check with organizations for older individuals, like AARP who may have ideas & recommendations. This would be a difficult situation to be in. This person may be able to receive disability pay or monetary assistance that could pay for an apartment & other needs, so it's worth checking into.
