What about communities for older individuals? Not 'old folks
homes' but communities where they have their own place to live, but
also the assistance of the community operators & each other, if
they need it? They are generally cheaper than buying your own
home/renting & may, since they cater to older individuals have
assistance programs available. I know they have some in Arizona
(some of my parents relatives have lived in this type of community)
& have heard of some in other areas. There are also programs
where they deliver food or have nursing care, in your home, if
needed & even transportation, for those can't drive. Maybe
check with organizations for older individuals, like AARP who may
have ideas & recommendations. This would be a difficult
situation to be in. This person may be able to receive disability
pay or monetary assistance that could pay for an apartment &
other needs, so it's worth checking into.
