I recently finished the first two series, Redemption and Firstborn, in Karen Kingsbury's Baxter family series.  I loved them and can't wait to read the final series.  I'm putting it off because I know once I begin, I'll stop doing everything else until they're finished.  In total there are 15 books.

I just finished START HERE by Alex & Brett Harris.  It is excellent!  While it's meant to challenge teens/young adults, I think it is a great read for anyone.  It basically is the practical advice and application based on their first book called DO HARD THINGS.  Even though it is a follow up book, it still stands on it's own.  And, I'm actually giving away a copy of it this week on my book review blog.  Hop on over if you'd like to enter the drawing, or just to browse my reviews...got lots of 'em! :-)

It was still fresh in my head and I was feeling happy for what I just read!  Amazingly, I just got back from the radio station and I see your topic for discussion.  We are in the book of Romans on our evening Bible study show.  It is basically about how we should live our life.  It is all based on the Gospels, God's plan for our salvation, but it ties in with the old testament and is just good rock bottom teaching.
Unlike some of Paul's other letters, it is not based on peoples behavior and him reprimanding them.  It is simply based on us having faith in God and righteousness from God.

I like the book of Romans because there are so many examples and solutions to everyday life situations or problems.

That is the hard part Jim...."having faith in God"

I discuss this with my mom all the time and she comes back with the same thing each time, "Are you going to be one those people that have to SEE in order to BELIEVE?"

She cracks me up.

Yea you're right, it is hard sometimes.  It is only easy when things are so sweet and going well, then we are happy with everything.  But it takes some practice to see it all work in our lives.  The first example of faith was with Abraham in Gen 4:3.   I think wow, this guy had that kind of faith with no examples to follow.  I pray; Could I just get a little bit of that, with all the examples that  I have available to me?  Through the whole Bible we find, that is what God really wants from us!

I'm actually reading a self-help book called "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda" by Dr. Arthur Freeman and Rose DeWolf.  It is about overcoming regrets, mistakes and missed opportunities.  It's a "therapy" type book, but is easy reading.  When Alyssa had to check out a couple books at the library for a paper at school, this book nearly leaped off the shelf into my arms, so I figured it was a sign.  LOL

I also have 9 autographed book giveaways coming up on my blog, so I have been reading some of those books too!

I'm reading Petals from the Sky by Mingmei Yip.  It's pretty good so far.

I just finished Bryson City Tales by Walter Larimore, MD.

In a nutshell, he relates some of his memories from his first year of private medical practice in little Bryson City, NC.

The Bible every day.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with that one n_ablink.

Is that your eye?  If so, I envy the beautiful blue!  I always wanted blue eyes.  Isn't like us to want what we can't have?  LOL
